The interiors in this home are a bit “museum” like,
not really my cup of tea,
but overall I thought this was a lovely old home.
Obviously a very stately home in its day,
huge home actually.
Check out the floorplans!!

Beautiful Heritage facade of course!

What a wonderful size entry area
to receive all your stately friends who visit!!

Imagine having a home like that
with all those stained glass windows!
cleaning???

That’s a pretty cool cellar!

Don’t forget to Tweet it if you want your Tweeps to see it too!

AND here’s what the Agent said about it!
Magnificent family residence, circa 1901, positioned on 1,948 sq m of lovely grounds Grandly positioned on one of Ku Ring Gai ‘s highly prized streets, this magnificent family home boasts an elegant blend of period charm and modern open plan living. The design for the building was commissioned by Mrs George Macfarlane (George, a successful tobacco merchant and Maria Conde, daughter of a wealthy Spanish cigar merchant) engaging Robertson & Marks as their architects and completed circa 1901. Nestled amongst beautiful and private established gardens (auto irrigation) featuring a brick paved circular driveway with water feature as a showpiece in the centre, this stately full brick and sandstone residence enjoys 1948 sq m of land, moments to Turramurra rail, local shopping village, restaurants and leading schools.
Accommodation includes welcoming entry porch framed by a sandstone arch, formal foyer with original features including patterned 12’ foot ceilings, absolutely magnificent stained glass windows, timber floors and impressive detailed balustrades on the grand split staircase, a formal lounge with open fire, dining room for 10 or more and billiards room complete with its own wet bar. A fabulous library with floor to ceiling bookshelves opens to the verandah and gardens. The modern gourmet kitchen with granite/caesarstone benchtops, quality Ilve, Miele appliances and large walk in pantry is well appointed, ideally adjacent to the large family room and informal dining with an amazing two storey high ceiling ceiling opening out to the large, airy verandah.

Seven bedrooms, four of which are oversized sized, all with built-ins, two with ensuites. The master bedroom offers generous walk in ‘his and hers’ robes and light filled ensuite. The smaller bedrooms upstairs are ideal for hobbies, sewing etc… A bedroom located at the top of the butlers stairs is, possibly suited to in-laws or nanny’s quarters and an additional self contained flat on the lower ground floor with kitchenette and bathroom. Located on the lower level, you will discover the magnificent cellar (1500 bottles) with room to seat 10 or more in grand style. Adjacent to the heated pool is an intimate Loggia, fabulous for relaxed entertaining,a sauna and cool room
Extra features of the property are a four car garage, additional off street parking on the driveway, back to base security system, ducted underfloor gas heating, gas heated spa.
A truly beautiful home built to a scale rarely seen in today’s architecture.

Yuck, fussy and ugly decor! Big house, sure – but his would be a complete make-over project for me.

Oh WOW! I reckon all of those stained glass windows would mean less cleaning … you wouldn't see the marks! Talk about fabulous! Love the old drawings of the home. I could quite happily live there.
